Pablo Celnik, MD — newly appointed CEO of Shirley Ryan AbilityLab — brings bold insights on the future of Precision Rehabilitation.
Precision medicine efforts are underway in many medical disciplines; however, the power of precision rehabilitation has not yet been fully explored. Precision rehabilitation aims to deliver the right intervention, at the right time, in the right setting, for the right person, ultimately bolstering the value of the care provided. Precision rehabilitation offers the promise of an evidence-based approach for optimizing individuals’ long-term abilities. Emerging techniques, including those driven by artificial intelligence, as well as sensors technology are rapidly expanding our ability to quantify the different human ability domains during rehabilitation, other encounters with healthcare, and in the community.
