To honor the important work of Dr. Margaret Nosek in the area of independent living and caregiving support, Dr. Zanca’s talk will discuss the need and opportunity for SCI rehabilitation professionals to partner with home health and family caregiving communities to support their well-being and skill development. Dr. Zanca will review current literature pertaining to SCI caregiving and will present findings from a series of four investigations into the education and support needs of hired and family caregivers. She will identify common themes emerging from these investigations, and opportunities for the rehabilitation community to address important gaps in caregiver knowledge, skills, and support.
