Chronic pain is a major barrier to rehabilitation, affecting function, recovery, and quality of life. This course introduces a structured, five-week interdisciplinary pain management program designed for individuals with neurological and medically complex conditions in an intensive outpatient rehabilitation setting. Led by speech, occupational, and physical therapists, this program integrates current pain science, cognitive rehabilitation, and biopsychosocial principles to enhance self-efficacy and functional independence.
The course highlights a standardized curriculum covering pain mechanisms, non-pharmaceutical interventions, and emotional influences on pain perception. Participants will gain practical tools to implement structured pain education within their own settings. This evidence-based approach ensures sustainable, effective pain management, improving rehabilitation outcomes and long-term self-management. Ideal for rehabilitation professionals, this course provides a replicable model for enhancing pain education in clinical practice.
