Jennifer Shin is a world-renowned Data Scientist, Entrepreneur, and Thought Leader. She is the Founder of 8 Path Solutions, a data science, analytics, and technology company based in NYC. A leading expert in the intersection between data, science, and technology, she has extensive experience turning data into usable, understandable, and scalable tools, models, and products.
Jennifer's data science career has been prolific with her expertise being tapped in a wide variety of disciplines from planetary sciences to epidemiology. In 2021, she served as a subject matter expert at NASA as a member of the Planetary Data Ecosystem (PDE) Independent Review Board (IRB). She is also a reviewer of predictive models for the United Nations and a member of the UN Global Network of Chief Data Officers & Statisticians.
In her other service activities, Jennifer also creates courses for LinkedIn Learning, including two Covid-19 courses that were released during the pandemic and as a consultant she reviewed and contributed questions used to award the Data Analysis badge on the LinkedIn platform. She currently serves on several advisory boards and committees, including the Grace Hopper Conference and the City University of New York.
Prior to this, Jennifer has successfully implemented complex, large scale, multimillion dollar projects and developed data products, services, and technologies at Fortune 500 company. As the inaugural Product Director for AdSmart Context at NBCUniversal, she transformed a concept into a new proprietary machine-learning AI technology platform, which received significant coverage by the press and media outlets.
Jennifer's expertise in data science, technology and business has been recognized by industry leaders, including IBM, MongoDB, and the South Korean government. Prior to joining Sy Syms School of Business, Jennifer taught data science and statistics courses at Columbia University, New York University, University of California, Berkeley, and City University of New York.
