Sarah has expertise with Cardiac and Stroke Systems of Care. She has brought together hospitals, EMS agencies and physician champions to improve patient outcomes and continuously strive for quality care. Sarah has led regional and statewide committees over her 6 years at the American Heart Association.
Sarah also played a key role in the Target: Aortic Stenosis initiative, which focused on improving the patient’s journey from initial diagnosis to intervention. She brought together internal and external stakeholders to collaborate on this project.
Most recently, Sarah is leading Skilled Nursing Facilities, Critical Access Hospitals, and Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities in Minnesota to participate in a stroke rehab initiative. Facilities will implement evidence-based guidelines to enhance their stroke rehab programs, collect data, and participate in monthly statewide virtual learning collaboratives.
Prior to coming to the AHA, Sarah spent over 6 years working extensively in quality at The Joint Commission as well as seeking her Master’s in Nursing and working in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
Sarah received her Bachelor of Science in Community Health from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Master of Science in Nursing from DePaul University in Chicago.
