Erica Rowland Vassell is a third-year doctoral student in the clinical psychology program, with an emphasis in neuropsychology, at The Chicago School, Los Angeles Campus. She earned a Master’s in Psychology from the same institution in 2024 and graduated cum laude from Austin Peay State University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Erica plays a key role in the newly recognized collaboration between The Chicago School and the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office, where she administers cognitive screeners for recently arraigned individuals suspected of having neurocognitive disorders. She has worked with diverse populations, including children in the foster care system, juvenile offenders, early career adults, older adults, and justice-involved individuals with complex mental as well as medical conditions. While actively researching multicultural assessment practices and cognitive functioning, Erica is also helping shape the University of Belize’s first-ever psychology program, driven by her commitment to advancing the field in her home country.
