Dr. Ide received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Virginia Tech and attended medical school at the University of Maryland. Upon graduation, he entered active duty in the U.S. Navy and completed internship at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. He served an additional 6 years as a medical officer and naval flight surgeon with 2D Battalion, 8th Marines, Naval Health Clinic Patuxent River, and the Naval Air Warfare Center. He completed residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Virginia. He then completed his fellowship in pediatric rehabilitation medicine at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Ide is currently the Director of Pediatric Rehabilitation at the University of Virginia. He is also currently serving in the US Navy Reserve and is the Officer in Charge for a medical detachment based in Baltimore, Maryland. His professional interests include pediatric limb difference, muscle hypertonicity management, cerebral palsy, clinical gait analysis, and the role of orthotic devices.
