Christopher Barrett MS RD CSSD CSCS
Chris currently serves as the Lead Sports Dietitian at the Bone and Joint Institute at Hartford Healthcare where he has extensive experience working with international, professional, collegiate and high school athletes. As a Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD), he focuses on sports performance nutrition, Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (REDs) and nutritional support during the treatment of athletic injuries (specializing in ACL recovery). In this role, he also is a consulting dietitian for Trinity College, University of Hartford and Connecticut College. In addition, in the food demonstration kitchen he conducts in-person and virtual cooking classes too. He regularly appears in a variety of media including live TV and radio interviews on ESPN Radio and Fox Sport Radio.
He now acts as the Director of the New England Sports Nutrition Conference to provide access to high quality sports nutrition information. Outside of the Bone and Joint Institute, Chris has served as a subject matter expert for the Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics exam development and has been a guest lecturer at several universities.
Chris also runs his Connecticut based sports nutrition virtual private practice where he will support athletes in sports performance. In addition to nutritional counseling, as a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS), he is also a private track and field coach to high school athletes; where he mentors and develops custom training programs to help the runner achieve their personal best on and off the track.
His philosophy with all athletes is to build trust, through relationships, to help them cultivate the best versions of themselves (so that they can help others).
