LaToya Adekoya is a Senior Occupational Therapist at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her experience within this sector encompasses the areas of Stem Cell Transplantation (SCT), Gynecology, Lymphoma/Melanoma, Myeloma, Head and Neck, Neurology, Orthopedics, Gynecology, SICU, and MICU. During her time as a clinician within this setting, she has acquired experience with a variety of treatment(s)/protocol(s) and has had the pleasure of working in program development for SCT Prehabilitation she develops, implements, and manages protocols as well as actively treats patients to provide preventative, rehabilitative, and compensatory intervention and education across their treatment continuum. She has been involved in a variety of projects that utilize both multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches and have heavily contributed to her practice as multi-faceted therapist. She has represented the Rehabilitation Services department on local and national levels to bring awareness to Occupational Therapy’s role within the Enhanced Recovery Stem Cell Transplant (ER-SCT) program in providing patient education and intervention to reduce the risk of disruption to their normalized routines in areas of fatigue management/energy conservation, sleep hygiene, cognition, while optimizing their overall quality of life.
