Stefani has been a physical therapist in the inpatient rehabilitation setting for the past 7 years, with 5 of those years specializing in the treatment of individuals with brain injuries. Stefani completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Northwestern University in 2017 and later obtained her board certification in neurologic physical therapy in 2022. Stefani has presented in two Shirley Ryan AbiliyLab Traumatic Brain Injury courses and has served as a TBI-content clinical mentor to clinicians throughout the organization. She served on a work group focused on optimizing the assessment and care of patients with disorders of consciousness at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. Stefani’s clinical experience with patients with brain injuries, and a subsequent realization of the gaps in available clinical literature for this population, sparked her interest in research and she has since received two internal grants from Shirley Ryan AbilityLab to study individuals with Disorders of Consciousness after TBI.
