Dr. Ginsberg earned a B.S. cum laude in Biology cum laude from Yale University, an M.A. in Anthropology from Brandeis University and in Psychology from Boston College, and a PhD in Clinical Neuropsychology from the University of Memphis (TN). Presently he is a
Licensed Clinical Psychologist/Neuropsychologist in South Carolina after retiring from the
Columbia (SC) VA hospital in 2019. He is currently Research Associate Professor at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and Adjunct Faculty at Saybrook University,Dept of Applied Psychophysiology. Dr. Ginsberg has been a PI, Co-PI or Co-I on research grants from the DoD, VA, and NIH studying heart rate variability (HRV) and HRV biofeedback in patients with either chronic pain or PTSD. Currently he is collaborating with researchers at the Comprehensive Autonomic Center (CAC), Dept of Neurology, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Medicine and at, Duke University School of Medicine on studies of heart rate variability (HRV) and heart rate variability biofeedback (HRVB). Dr. Ginsberg has advocated for self-empowered integrative management of chronic pain and PTSD using Autonomic Self Regulation as a mind-body treatment for the past 20 years. He authored or co-authored more than 70 peer-reviewed scientific publications, chapters, and abstracts; served as a scientist reviewer of research grant proposals and edited or reviewed numerous published scientific articles. Dr. Ginsberg has given invited presentations on HRV and HRVB at scientific meetings, academic seminars, and webinars. He was program Co-Chair of the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback (AAPB) Special 50th Anniversary Annual Scientific meeting in Denver, CO. From 202021-2023 he was Chair, American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine (ACRM) Task Force on Biofeedback in Rehabilitation Medicine. His most recent service activities are Board Member-at-Large of the HRV Institute and Planning Committee Member for the 2025 National HRVB Conference April 04, 2025, Richmond, VA.
