Jillian Scandiffio is a PhD student at Rehabilitation Sciences Institute at the University of Toronto. Her doctoral research is focused on interventions to enhance wellbeing in people with multiple sclerosis, with a specific focus on developing tools to support healthcare providers in prescribing physical activity. She has won awards for her research endeavours, including two distinguished entry scholarships to her PhD program, the Temerty Graduate Entrance Scholarship and Rehabilitation Sciences Institute Entrance Scholarship. She holds a Master of Science in Kinesiology and Health Studies from Queen’s University, with a focus on Physical Activity Epidemiology, where her research examined the role of physical activity and sedentary behaviour in preventing chronic illness. Additionally, she holds of Bachelor of Science (Kinesiology) from McMaster University.
Jillian has a strong background in rehabilitation research. Prior to starting her PhD, she worked as a Research Assistant on the HEART study at Humber River Hospital, examining the role of an inpatient multidisciplinary rehabilitation intervention in enhancing physical functioning in hospitalized older adults. Further, Jillian acted as a Research Coordinator at the Barlo MS Centre, where she worked on a series of projects aimed at enhancing wellbeing in people with multiple sclerosis through various rehabilitation initiatives.
