Associate professor and head physician
Faculty of medicine, University of Oslo and Beitostølen Healthsport center, Norway
I am associate professor at Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo (Norway) and head physician and researcher at Beitostølen Healthsports Center (BHC). BHC is an ideal foundation that provides specialized medical rehabilitation services to children, young adults, and adults through nationwide ongoing performance agreements with the Regional Health Authorities.
BHC is a world leader in its field, combining the use of adapted physical activity with rehabilitation medicine, educational, and social guidance and follow-up with the goal of achieving the best possible activity and participation throughout life.
As a physician, researcher, and leader, I am interested in rehabilitation for persons with physical and/or cognitive disabilities and how to have the best possible life despite them. I am interested in both the individual and how the health system can be structured to reduce unwanted variation.
I am also interested in interdisciplinary work and have broad clinical, research, and teaching experience in goal-setting processes and the use of ICF (International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health) as a framework for assessing function as well as implementing and evaluating appropriate measures. I have become increasingly interested in issues involving ethical stress, rights, and difficult prioritizations and “values at stake” within the field of habilitation and rehabilitation.
