Occupational Therapy Student
Des Moines University
Katie Barhorst is an occupational therapy student originally from Milford, Michigan. She graduated from Michigan State University in 2019 with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology and a minor in Health Promotion.
She currently attends Des Moines University as a student in their Doctor of Occupational Therapy program, set to graduate in May of 2026. She is currently set to complete her first level 2 fieldwork experience at Alaska Psychiatric Institute in Anchorage, Alaska during the summer of 2025. After this, she will complete her second level 2 fieldwork experience in inpatient rehabilitation with Encompass Rehabilitation.
After graduation, she plans to begin work as a clinical occupational therapist and expand her knowledge and experience serving individuals from varying backgrounds. She has a particular interest in both psychiatric and neurologic conditions, and aims to bridge the two areas of healthcare through practice.
