Sara P. Johnston, PhD, MPH, CRC, is an adjunct professor in the Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling program at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. She was previously an associate professor in the Occupational Therapy Doctorate Program and the Olson Fellow for Global Engaged Learning at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. While at Drake, Dr. Johnston served as a member of the Drake University Institutional Review Board. She has served in leadership roles for the National Association of Disability Benefits Specialists, the Rehabilitation Counselors and Educators Association, and the Commission on Rehabilitation Counseling Certification. She currently serves as a board member for On with Life Brain Injury Rehabilitation and as chair of the Research Committee. Her clinical experience includes working as a supported community living counselor with adults who have experienced brain injury and stroke. She has conducted research, published, and presented on health care disparities related to disability, global health and disability, and advocacy and ethics in clinical practice.
