Dr. Sharon Rose Phillips is an Associate Professor at Hofstra University in the School of Health Science and is the Director of the Community Health Program as well as the co-Director of the Health and Physical Education Teacher Education programs in the School of Education. Sharon is a graduate of Teachers College, Columbia University, where she earned her PhD. and M.Phil. in Kinesiology; Kean University, where she earned her M.A. in Educational Administration and Supervision; and Rowan University, where she earned her B.A. in Health and Physical Education and was named Daniel P. Stanley Alumni of the Year. Previously, she taught in the Sport and Leisure Studies Department at the University of Waikato in New Zealand and as a K-12 health and physical education teacher in New Jersey public schools. She has been named Teacher of the Year twice, at both Hofstra University and during her tenure as an elementary school physical teacher. Her main research focus is the teaching and curriculum of K-12 physical education. Outside of Hofstra, she is proud to be the founder of the Christopher and Susan Phillips Foundation and resides in New Jersey with her husband and two children.
