Amy Pei-Lung Yu (she/her) is a doctoral candidate at the University of Texas at Austin Steve Hicks School of Social Work. She has a decade of experience supporting with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities of all ages and their families as a direct support professional, case manager, and a researcher. Her primary research interests are in family support, professional support, quality of life, and disparities in culturally diverse families of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Using socio-ecological frameworks and intersectional approaches, Amy’s program of research focuses on 1) examining the caregiving experiences and quality of life outcomes among racially and ethnically diverse families of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, 2) investigating the contextual factors that hinder or facilitate support provision, particularly as they age together, and 3) developing culturally relevant interventions that address health and social inequities.
