Yolanda Suarez-Balcazar, PhD is a Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy and the Department of Disability and Human Development at the University of Illinois Chicago. Trained as a community psychologist, Dr. Suarez-Balcazar’s research focuses on the nexus between race, culture, and health disparities. She studies social determinants of health impacting individuals with disabilities and their families from diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds and the design of culturally tailored interventions to promote health equity. Dr. Suarez-Balcazar is a fellow of the American Psychological Association.
