Arlene Astell is Director of the Dementia Aging Technology Engagement (DATE) lab at KITE, University Health Network, Toronto and Full Professor of Psychology at Northumbria University UK. Arlene has more than 25 years of experience developing and evaluating interventions to support people to age as well as possible, including those living with dementia. Arlene's work explores how technology and digital functionality can mitigate cognitive or other disabilities to support people to maintain meaningful activities. Current projects include an exploration of how technology can support people diagnosed with dementia to stay in the workplace and a voice assistant to cue people with dementia through everyday tasks. She has published more than 300 peer-reviewed contributions to literature and is current Chair of the Alzheimer's Association International Society to Advance Alzheimer's Research and Treatment NonPharmacological Interventions Professional Interest Area.
