Dr. Katherine Martinez is a retired Associate Professor and a Board-Certified Neurologic Specialist Emeritus at the Department of Physical Therapy and Human Movement sciences at Northwestern University. She has over 30 years of clinical experience working with person with neurological dysfunction, in home care, outpatient and at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and over 20 years of teaching physical therapy students at Northwestern University. Her early research was focused on identifying reactive stepping strategies in older adults and later gait initiation issue in persons with Parkinson’s Disease. Her current research is in addressing reactive balance responses in person post stroke.
