Clinical Research Assistant
The Ohio State University
Sana Chahande, MS, is a first-year medical student at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. She completed a Master’s degree in Applied Neuroscience and a Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience The Ohio State University. Her academic and professional experiences reflect a strong commitment to advancing neurological research and improving patient outcomes through evidence-based, interdisciplinary care.
Sana has worked in both acute and outpatient clinical settings, including the James Cancer Hospital and Martha Morehouse Outpatient Neuro Rehabilitation Clinic. These roles allowed her to work closely with patients recovering from spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, strokes, and head, neck, and neuro cancers. She developed a deep appreciation for the relationship between emotional well-being and physical rehabilitation, and learned the value of building long-term, trust-based relationships with patients.
In parallel with her clinical work, Sana has pursued research that bridges basic science and patient care. As a research assistant in Dr. Ceren Yarar-Fisher’s lab, she is involved in projects examining nutritional interventions and microbiome changes in individuals with spinal cord injury. She has presented findings from her research involvements at the Spinal Research Trust conference in England as well as several research days at Ohio State.
