Dr. Angela Colantonio, PhD, OT Reg.(Ont.), FCAHS, FACRM is a faculty member and past Director of the Rehabilitation Sciences Institute. She holds a Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Traumatic Brain Injury in Underserved Populations and was the recipient of the Saunderson Family Chair in Acquired Brain Injury and a CIHR Research Chair in Gender, Work and Health. She has authored over 300 publications and has received numerous distinctions including the JJ Berry Davis Doctoral Supervision Award for outstanding graduate student supervision. She is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, the American College of Epidemiology and the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine.
Dr. Colantonio leads the internationally recognized Acquired Brain Injury Research Lab at the University of Toronto and the KITE Research Institute-University Health Network which is supported by contributions of outstanding trainees/scientists, community based partners and funders. Her research aims to address traumatic brain injury, a leading cause in death and disability, particularly in underserved populations such as persons who have experienced homelessness, the justice system and brain injury through violence including intimate partner violence with a sex and gender lens.
