Department of Rehabilitation
Fukuyama City Hospital, Japan
Koji Tawara received his physiotherapy license in Japan in 2007 and holds certifications in both Stroke and Respiratory Rehabilitation from the Japanese Physical Therapy Association. He has worked across the continuum of care—from acute to chronic rehabilitation—at hospitals in Nagasaki and Hiroshima.
With a clinical background in neuro-rehabilitation, including the Bobath Approach and Repetitive Facilitative Exercise (RFE), he is now deeply engaged in robotic rehabilitation. Outside his clinical practice, he promotes cutting-edge rehabilitation technologies and facilitates collaboration between users and companies through a non-profit framework.
He is also active in the field of digital rehabilitation and has been providing tele-rehabilitation services to patients in Afghanistan as a volunteer. Currently, he is developing a tele-rehabilitation platform to connect Japanese physiotherapists with patients around the world.
