Shantel Firpi Szymanski received her Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Connecticut. She has been recognized by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties as a Certified Neurologic Clinical Specialist since 2016 and is also a Certified Stroke Rehab Specialist and a Certified Brain Injury Specialist. Shantel is currently the neurological rehabilitation program manager for Hartford HealthCare, where she treats clinically on an inpatient rehabilitation unit, and additionally leads program development and establishes standards of care for the rehabilitation of patients with neurological diagnosis. She has practiced in various settings including outpatient and inpatient care, with a primary focus in working with patients with neurological injuries including acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury and integrating robotic technology into the standard of care. Shantel is adjunct faculty at the University Of Hartford teaching in the Neurological Dysfunction course is on the professional advisory council for Quinnipiac University’s DPT program. Shantel is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association as well as the CT Chapter of the APTA, serving as the public policy chairperson for the Neurologic FIN.
