Health Program Specialist

Alva Recinos is a Health Program Specialist (HPS) in the Division of Clinical Research (DCR). She serves as the HPS for the SIREN Network, StrokeNet, Team CNS, and the Common Data Elements Project. She is a bilingual foreign medical graduate that obtained her degree from la Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) and is currently pursuing her Master of Health Sciences in Clinical Research at Duke University School of Medicine. Prior to joining NINDS, Alva was a Research Coordinator for Baylor College of Medicine at Texas Children’s Hospital in the Texas Medical Center (TMC), one of the largest pediatric cancer centers in the United States. In her role, she served as an advocate for patients and their families to receive full disclosure about multiple biobanking and active treatment studies offered through the Solid Tumor Team, as well as a genomic study that aimed to assess the utility of genomic testing in various populations. Prior to that she worked for the Harris Health System at Thomas Street as a translator/interpreter.
