My research aims to improve rehabilitation outcomes and decrease ethnic minority health disparities, particularly among
persons with traumatic brain injury (TBI) or stroke, as well as improve care transitions and continuity of care following
acute and post-acute care. My recent work aims to improve screening for elder mistreatment with emphasis on
vulnerable, older adults with mild cognitive impairment or Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias, as well as the
intersection between elder mistreatment and TBI. In addition, I am interested in studying the intersection of intimate
partner violence and brain injury among diverse survivors. I have a continued interest in minority aging, gender/sex
disparities in rehabilitation, health literacy of patients and caregivers, and psychosocial adjustment to disability.
