Dr. Wael Mostafa Hassaneen is a neurosurgeon with extensive training in neurosurgical oncology, cerebrovascular surgery, and advanced neurosurgical techniques. Dr. Hassaneen obtained a medical degree from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt, followed by a Master’s and Doctorate in Neurosurgery. He completed postdoctoral research at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and advanced fellowships in neurosurgical oncology and cerebrovascular neurosurgery at Loyola University Medical Center and Indiana University, respectively. Dr. Hassaneen currently serves as the Program Lead for Brain Tumors & Skull Base Surgery at Carle Foundation Hospital, he provides specialized care to patients with complex neurosurgical conditions while contributing to academic medicine as an Associate Professor at Carle Illinois College of Medicine and Affiliate Faculty at the Beckman Institute. Dr. Hassaneen's research centers on improving diagnostic and therapeutic tools for cerebrovascular conditions and CNS oncology, with a particular emphasis on understanding ischemic stroke pathophysiology and its impact on brain function and recovery.
