Courtney Celian is the Manager of Research Operations in the Robotics Lab at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, formerly the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. She has five years of clinical experience as an occupational therapist in the Brain Innovation Center at SRAlab and over seven years of research experience. Her research focuses on identifying barriers and facilitators to the clinical adoption of rehabilitation technologies, creating opportunities for developers to receive actionable feedback on their devices, and applying implementation science methodologies to ensure research findings are effectively translated into practice.
A graduate of The Ohio State University with a Master’s in Occupational Therapy, Courtney is currently pursuing a Master’s in Health Services and Outcomes Research at Northwestern University, further enhancing her expertise in advanced research methodologies and healthcare innovation.
Courtney has published peer-reviewed studies examining the adoption of rehabilitation technologies and advancing translational research methods. She is passionate about fostering collaboration among researchers, engineers, clinicians, and community members to bridge the gap between technology development and clinical practice. Her work exemplifies the power of multidisciplinary teamwork to transform rehabilitation care and improve patient outcomes.
