Dr. Ming-Chien Chyu is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Texas Tech University and an Adjunct Professor in the School of Medicine, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Dr. Chyu has been dedicated to promoting collaboration between engineering and healthcare, and has been recognized as a (or the) pioneer in Healthcare Engineering or the "Father of Healthcare Engineering" by 16 US-based global magazines. He is the Founding President of the Healthcare Engineering Alliance Society (HEALS), a global organization focusing on improving and advancing all aspects of healthcare through engineering, bridging the gap and synergizing healthcare and engineering, preparing engineering students and engineers for jobs in healthcare, and helping healthcare professionals apply engineering to solve healthcare problems. He led 40 expert co-authors worldwide to first define Healthcare Engineering in a milestone white paper (2015) and also on Wikipedia.org.
