Mary Lyman Rivers is a dedicated and academically accomplished student currently pursuing a Clinical Doctorate in Occupational Therapy at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, with an expected graduation date of December 2026. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education with a concentration in Exercise Science from the University of Alabama in May 2024, graduating with a 4.0 GPA. Mary Lyman has pursued diverse clinical experiences, including shadowing occupational therapists in inpatient, outpatient, pediatric, and neurorehabilitation settings. Her work has involved exposure to manual lymph drainage, orthopedic care, and sensory-based pediatric interventions, demonstrating a strong commitment to understanding the breadth of occupational therapy practice. While she has been graduate school, she has worked with the Alabama Head Injury Foundation while also volunteering at the Firehouse Shelter and Horizon's School in Birmingham. AL. In addition to clinical exposure, she participated in a vision rehabilitation research study at UAB, where she engaged in upper limb functional assessments and familiarization with assistive technologies.
