Thaisa was a Research Analyst at KITE-Toronto Rehabilitation Institute conducting research on intersecting topics of traumatic brain injury, sex, and gender. She graduated from the University of Toronto of Mississauga (HBSc, Biotechnology). During her undergraduate career, she was a research student in the Currie Lab (UTM) and at the Ikura Lab (Princess Margaret Cancer Research Tower), where she gained valuable technical skills and lab experience in the fields of epigenetics and structural biology. She was also part of a Reach Alliance team investigating a community-led, carbon-credit funded mangrove conservation project in Kenya that implemented a unique model of conservation for local development. Thaisa aims to apply her interest in biology, science communication, and application-based learning in the sustainability space and is pursuing a Masters degree in Sustainability Management.
