Steven Handler, MD, PhD, CMD is the Director of the VISN 4 Technology Enhancing Cognition and Health – Geriatrics Research Education and Clinical Center (TECH-GRECC). The TECH-GRECC is a Center of Excellence for older Veterans supported by VA Central Office and uses technology to fulfill the following missions: 1) build new knowledge in geriatric care through research; 2) improve health care for older Veterans through the development of innovative clinical models of care; and 3) provide training and education on best practices in caring for older adults for students in healthcare disciplines and VA staff. He is also an Associate Professor with a primary appointment in the Division of Geriatric Medicine and secondary appointments in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, Biomedical Informatics, and Translational Science. Dr. Handler has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles in his primary research areas that focus on medication and patient safety, telemedicine, and quality improvement in the post-acute and long-term care setting.
