Dr. Brooke Murtaugh is the Brain Injury Program Manager at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals. She has practiced in brain injury rehabilitation for 19 years and continues to practice as a clinician, primarily consulting on and treating the DOC population. Dr. Murtaugh is a member of the Disorders of Consciousness Task Force and Brain Injury Special Interest Group through ACRM and IBIA DoC Special Interest Group. Brooke was invited to participate in the American College of Surgeons Trauma Quality Improvement Program TBI Best Practice Guidelines committee and has played an active role in consulting and writing the 2024 edition of the TBI Best Practice Guidelines. She co-chairs the Campaign to Cure Coma: Care of the Coma Patient Work Group and sits on the Coma Campaign’s Scientific Steering Committee as part of the Neurocritical Care Society. She is also a member of the CARF International Standards Advisory Committee for the new Disorders of Consciousness Program Standards. She has a number of peer-reviewed journal publications focusing on DoC clinical care.
