Dr. Wertheimer is a Board-certified Clinical Neuropsychologist and the Chief of the Psychology and Neuropsychology Division, Associate Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), and Director of Neuropsychology Clinical Training at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (CSMC) and the California Rehabilitation Institute (Cal Rehab). He assists with monitoring clinical outcomes, quality projects, and research within the PM&R and Neuropsychology. He has extensive experience with interprofessional collaboration (from research endeavors to Chair of interprofessional committees), inter- and intra-departmental and multi-center NIH and industry-funded clinical research projects focused on neuropsychological constructs, lifestyle medicine, and cognitive rehabilitation in patients with cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, acquired brain injury, and cardiovascular disease. Dr. Wertheimer has assisted in the development of two interdisciplinary evidence-based Cognitive Rehabilitation Programs at Cedars-Sinai targeting cognitive changes in cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI) and neurodegenerative diseases in collaboration with PM&R and the Cancer Center and PM&R and Neurology, respectively, and has been involved in the development of programs at CSMC and Cal Rehab for multi-disciplinary clinics and other multidisciplinary programs (Growing Resilience and CouragE with Cancer; Emerging from the Haze) where he assists with monitoring process and outcome metrics. In his clinical practice, he facilitates psychotherapeutic and cognitive rehabilitation programs, and conducts neurobehavioral status examinations, abbreviated cognitive screens, comprehensive neuropsychological assessments, and psychodiagnostic evaluations across the continuum of care (acute, subacute inpatient services, and outpatient clinical services). Furthermore, Dr. Wertheimer has maintained active involvement on National Committees and international organizations, including, but not limited to, the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine (i.e., Behavioral Health Networking Group (Co-Chair); conference planning committee; Stroke Vision Taskforce); The Parkinson’s Community Los Angeles (Medical Advisor); Kandu Health, Imperative Care, Inc. – a digital platform created to empower, support, and connect affected by stroke across the continuum of care (Clinical Advisor, Educator, and Research Consultant).
