Edie Babbitt, PhD, CCC-SLP, BC–ANCDS, works as a Master Research Speech-Language Pathologist at the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab’s Center for Aphasia Research & Treatment and is a research assistant professor at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She is also the manager of SRALAB’s Intensive Aphasia Program. Her clinical and research interests include intensive aphasia treatment, neuroimaging, computer-based treatments, and education of health care professionals regarding interacting with patients with aphasia. In 2010, she received training to train others in Supported Conversation for Adults with Aphasia© (SCA) from the Aphasia Institute of Toronto. Over many years, she has instructed Resident physicians, medical students, physical therapy students, allied health clinical staff, interpreters, family members, and volunteers in the use of SCA techniques to improve interactions with persons with aphasia.
