Dr. Lucchio completed his doctoral degree in clinical psychology at the University of Hartford, and is currently a licensed clinical psychologist at Hartford Hospital’s Bone and Joint Institute. He specializes in the practice of both clinical health psychology and Sport Psychology. He has specific interests in coping with psychological recovery from injury/surgery, trauma, the treatment of chronic pain conditions in athletes, health optimization, and psychologically-informed approaches to medical care and coaching in sport. He has presented at national Sport Psychology conferences on multidisciplinary care of ACL injuries and understanding the prevalence of chronic pain in athletes. He has been trained in of clinical hypnosis through the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis and has presented on the utility of hypnosis through the Connecticut Psychological Association. He is retired from rugby and competitive CrossFit. He uses his strength and conditioning practice to keep up with his active children.
