Melissa Jonardi OTR/L, MSOT, is an Occupational Therapist II at Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin, an adult Level I Trauma Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Melissa graduated from Carroll University with a Master’s of Occupational Therapy in 2018. She has worked at Froedtert Hospital since with a focus on treating patients in the intensive care units (ICUs) and with the cardiac population including patients pre- and post- heart and lung transplantation and with mechanical circulatory support devices and left ventricular assist devices (LVAD). She regularly attends interdisciplinary meetings with the Advanced Heart Failure and Critical Care Anesthesia teams. She is advocate for and aided in the establishment of therapy’s role (OT, PT, and SLP) with patients undergoing advanced heart failure work-up for heart transplantation or LVAD including using the Fried Frailty Scale. She is a proponent of early engagement of functional cognition interventions to prevent delirium in the ICU and has created resources for staff, patients, and family. Melissa has lectured on Occupational Therapy in Critical Care at Marquette University.
