Dr. Kristina Henderson (she/her) has a strong drive for preparing others to become confident counselors and leaders in the field. She earned her Ph.D. in Counseling and Student Development with an emphasis in Counselor Education and Supervision from Kansas State University, and a Master of Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Kentucky. She has been a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor for over 25 years and a Georgia Licensed Professional Counselor since 2001. Dr. Henderson has been a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor since 2014, and she obtained her certification as a Vocational Evaluation Specialist (CVE) in 2023. She is an Associate Professor and the Program Coordinator for the Master of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling at Mercer University.
Dr. Henderson has spent much of her career in clinical services. Her experience includes working as a counselor for the Department of the Army, as a Rehabilitation Counselor for the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency, and as Director of Counseling and Disability Services within the University System of Georgia before shifting focus to academia. She has a passion for addressing the intersection of identities, and she believes strongly that it’s necessary to prepare not only with skills and knowledge but also with connectedness to the profession and an awareness of attitudes and environmental barriers that impede the success of our clients. Her research and clinical interests also include attitudes toward persons with disabilities and other marginalized groups, the intersectionality of identities, and the ethics of competency in scope of practice.
