Michele Head, DNP, RN, ACNP-BC, FNP is an assistant professor at The University of New Mexico (UNM) College of Nursing. She is the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) Program Director teaching didactic and clinical content in the AGACNP and doctorate of nurse practitioner programs. She has been in the medical field for more than 30 years as a critical care RN and an acute care nurse practitioner. She has worked in several fields of critical care including; trauma, medical-surgical, neurosurgery, and cardiology. Presently she is a cardiac nurse practitioner at the New Mexico Heart Institute with inpatient services.
Her clinical interests include cardiac critical care, general cardiology, interventional cardiology, advanced heart failure management, coronary artery disease, hypertension management, cardiorenal syndrome, and women's cardiac health. Her professional interests include practice-based cardiac research and precepting the AG-ACNP students. Head received her Doctorate of Nurse Practitioner and a post-graduate degree Family Nurse Practitioner certificate from New Mexico State University, and a Master of Science in Nursing degree and post-graduate certificate as an acute care nurse practitioner from the University of New Mexico
