Assistant Professor
University of Pennsylvania
Philadelphia, PA, United States
I am an occupational therapist, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Pennsylvania, and Core Investigator at the Philadelphia VA Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion (CHERP). Additionally, I am the Faculty Advisor for Behavioral Science in the Penn Medicine Nudge Unit, the world’s first behavioral design team embedded in a health system. My research portfolio seeks to understand how to leverage behavioral economic principles and scalable technology platforms to improve long-term disease self-management and function among adults with neurologic disease. This includes three complimentary research streams: (1) leveraging behavioral economic principles and technologies to help individuals receiving rehabilitation services translate in-clinic improvements to daily life post-stroke; (2) develop remote, scalable, behavioral interventions that help increase physical activity among adults with neurologic disease to improve disease self-management; and (3) use of administrative and claims data to identify disparities in post-stroke care. My research is directly informed by my clinical experiences as an occupational therapist and PhD training in movement science.
