Flora Nikolaou is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Center for Applied Neuroscience (CAN), at the University of Cyprus. She completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology in February 2024, with over 2000 hours of clinical practice. She also completed a MSc. in Neuroscience with Distinction at the Cyprus School of Molecular Medicine of The Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics and a BA degree in Psychology at University of Cyprus. Her research interests revolve around neurological disorders, such as Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), with a specific emphasis on gender-related aspects, particularly in the context of intimate partner violence (IPV) and its associated brain injuries. Throughout her Ph.D., she pioneered the development of the BR.A.I.N. program, focusing on the intersection of IPV and brain injuries. Flora has gained extensive experience working as a special scientist on various European and other research projects, including the Twinning project BRAINN regarding COVID-19 and project SENSE-Cog: Promoting health for eyes, ears and mind led by the University of Manchester which is funded by the European Union’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, Horizon 2020. This experience has prepared her to manage complex, multi-partner, and international cooperation projects.
