Fofi Constantinidou, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, CBIS, FASHA, FACRM, is Professor of Language Disorders and Clinical Neuropsychology, & Founding Director, Center for Applied Neuroscience, University of Cyprus. Prior to repatriating to Cyprus, she was Professor of Speech Pathology and Audiology at Miami University, Ohio, USA where she established the Miami University Sports Concussion Management Program. For over 25 years, her research, teaching, and clinical expertise center on acquired neurological conditions. Fofi’s innovative research focuses on the neurophysiological underpinnings of cognitive, linguistic, and psychosocial deficits resulting from acquired brain injury and aging, and more recently, long-COVID. Through integration of clinical neuroscience principles her team develops effective neurorehabilitation modalities to improve patient outcomes. She has published and presented extensively in this area and has a 25-year extramural funding record as PI from the European Union, the National Institutes of Health (USA), the Cyprus Research & Innovation Foundation, and the industry. Her funding portfolio exceeds 11.0 million (>4.5 million as PI). Currently, she is the PI on a EU Funded project (Horizon Europe), The Brain Research and Integrative Network on COVID-19, aiming to characterize post covid sequalae and develop neurorehabilitation pathways using contemporary neuroscience methodologies.
Fofi is a Fellow of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association and a Fellow of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine (ACRM) with extensive professional service and leadership positions. She is the first President-of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine (ACRM) residing outside of North America, the Deputy Chair of the European Speech & Language Association and the immediate past president of the Cyprus Association of Registered Speech Language Pathologists.
