Dr. Rochelle Mendonca is Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy in the Department of Rehabilitation and Regenerative Medicine at Columbia University. Her research centers around technology and accessibility for people with disabilities. She has received approximately $4 million in funding from NIDILRR and NIH for projects to develop technology-based assessments to measure the accessibility of environments including homes and community buildings. Her research has also focused on obtaining a better understanding of issues surrounding the accessibility of medical devices for people with disabilities and the development and testing of information systems to measure the accessibility of medical devices. She has served on the United States Department of Justice Access Board Standards Committee to develop standards for accessible medical equipment. She regularly presents at national and international conferences to disseminate my research leading to over 60 presentations and 30 chapters and publications.
