David is the Director of Research Initiatives and Education at Sky Factory, a fine arts and digital technology studio that leverages neuroaesthetics—the field that studies the effects of sensory patterns on wellbeing—in its design framework.
He is a research fellow at The Centre for Conscious Design and a member of the Academy of Neuroscience for Architecture (ANFA). He earned a Certificate of Research Excellence (CORE) from the Environmental Design Research Association (EDRA) in 2017 and is also accredited as an evidence-based design professional (EDAC) by The Center for Health Design.
He is the author of multiple courses for professionals approved for CEU credit by the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC), and the Patient Experience Institute (PXI). David has presented Sky Factory’s research at leading healthcare design forums, including the European Healthcare Design Conference, Planetree Patient-Centered Care, AHRA, HealthConnect, and the Academy of Neuroscience for Architecture.
He’s also the author of in-depth articles on Cognitive Biophilia for diverse architectural design and healthcare publications, including the Conscious Cities Journal (2024), AIA NYS Oculus (2023), AIA UT Reflexion (2022), Conscious Cities Anthology (2020, 2018), Radiology Today, Salus Global Journal, and Work/Design magazine.
David spearheads research partnerships with hospitals, public and private health organizations, and professional researchers in the areas of environmental and healthcare design. He holds an MBA from MIU and a M.Sc. from Boston University.
