I am a Research Scientist at Craig Hospital in Englewood, CO. Over my career, I have worked in both rehabilitation and academic settings. Before Craig, I spent 6 years at Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation as the Director (1 year) and Associate Director (5 years) of Rehabilitation Research plus 16 years as faculty in several academic institutions. I am a behavioral psychologist with over 25 years of research experience conducting studies that explore and promote the health and function of individuals with physical disabilities. My research to date has focused on developing theory-based approaches to target health behavior change for this population. My funded research program includes investigating a theory-based approaches to promote exercise among mobility impaired samples and adapting evidence-based programs to promote weight loss among those with mobility impairment, including SCI samples. I have served as PI of 12 funded studies, including 5 randomized controlled trials and is Co-I on 6 studies, which total $6.5 million dollars.
