Samantha Smith, MS, OTR/L, is an experienced occupational therapist with a solid foundation from Western Michigan University's Occupational Therapy program, graduating in 2014. Over the past 10 years, she has contributed her expertise across various departments at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, including Flex Staff, Outpatient, and presently, the Nerve, Muscle, Bone Innovation Center. Throughout her time at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, Samantha has demonstrated leadership and commitment to professional development through her involvement in mentorship roles, project leadership, and service as Chair of the OT Practice Council. She currently serves in an appointed leadership role as Secretary on the Executive Board of the Illinois Occupational Therapy Association, contributing to the strategic direction and governance of the organization. Samantha holds the position of Manager of Allied Health Orientation and Training within the Internal Staff Development department. In this role, she plays a crucial part in ensuring the ongoing education and proficiency of allied health staff during their 90 days of onboarding. Her clinical interests include orthotic fabrication and hand therapy, vision, and medically complex populations.
