Dr. Akhila Veerubhotla is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Her research focuses on enhancing physical activity, balance, and mobility in individuals with neurological impairments through innovative technologies, including wearable devices, augmented reality, and machine learning. She has investigated the effectiveness of wearable devices in tracking physical activity among individuals with acquired brain injuries and spinal cord injuries. Dr. Veerubhotla has also explored augmented reality-guided treadmill training to improve functional mobility post-stroke. Her work aims to develop strategies and interventions that can be easily translated to community settings, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for individuals with neurological conditions.
