Jeffrey Holmes, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the School of Occupational Therapy at Western University in London, Ontario, and a registered Occupational Therapist. His research program focuses on the non-pharmacological management of gait and balance impairments in individuals with Parkinson’s disease, as well as the psychosocial support needs of their caregivers. Conceptually, his work is informed by a biomechanical framework, shaped through an occupational lens, and guided by principles from cognitive behavioural therapy—particularly in addressing the behavioural and emotional dimensions of living with Parkinson’s disease. His work emphasizes enhancing participation in meaningful activities and is deeply informed by the lived experiences of individuals with Parkinson’s and those who support them.
