Clare Burke, MA, LCPC, ATR, CADC is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Art Therapist currently employed as a Clinical Manager of Programs at the Institute for Therapy Through the Arts in Evanston, IL. Clare holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Pre-Medical Studies from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Arts in Counseling: Art Therapy from Adler University. Clare completed her master’s level clinical internship at Rush University Medical Center on the Child and Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatric Unit. She was formerly employed as an art therapist through Edward Elmhurst Health where she gained experience running psychoeducational and art therapy groups with clients of all ages at both the inpatient and outpatient levels of care.
Currently, Clare works with children, teens, adults, and geriatric clients with a variety of presenting issues, including ADHD, depression, anxiety, trauma, and dementia. Clare has an increaseing interest in providing art therapy services to geriatric clients with Alzheimer's disease and aphasia diagnoses. Clare is also a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor and has a passion for working with individuals with substance abuse and related issues. She implements a strengths-based approach when working with clients and pulls primarily from person-centered and cognitive behavioral theoretical orientations. Clare is passionate about utilizing art therapy with clients as a way to help empower them and foster personal growth and change. Outside of work, Clare enjoys art-making, being in nature, and swimming.
