This session explores how rehabilitation services, such as occupational therapy, mediate the negative impact of anxiety and depressive disorders on quality of life. Using nationally representative data from the U.S. National Health Interview Survey, the study presents a cross-sectional mediation analysis to examine the direct and indirect effects of mental health conditions on well-being. Attendees will learn how participation in rehabilitation may offer protective benefits, even if modest, by supporting functional independence and social participation. The session will equip clinicians, researchers, and policymakers with evidence to inform integrated approaches to mental health and rehabilitation services.
